TAX REBATE RECEIPTS: The 2008 year receipts  are available in the porch today. Please collect yours and your family's. Thanks.

FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION CLASSES: are now being held for those who celebrated their First Reconciliation last year. Please pray for the children and their families from St Philomena’s, Our Lady Help of Christians and St Joseph's Parishes who are walking this faith journey. First Communion Sunday is May 3rd.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION: Preparation for this Sacrament begins on Sunday 10th May. Please encourage your children, grandchildren, godsons and goddaughters to consider opening their hearts to God in this most important faith celebration. (For Year 11 and above) Registration forms will be available later in the month.

MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND: Pope John Paul II said “I place much of my hope for the future in Marriage Encounter” The opportunity for you and your spouse to enrich your relationship is being offered on the weekend of 15–17th May at Waikanae. Phone Neil or Francie on 0800 362686 for details.

PROJECT RACHEL COUNSELLOR: Are you interested in becoming a Project Rachel Counsellor? The Catholic Diocese of Hamilton and the Anglican Diocese of Waikato are hosting a training session on 29-30 April in Hamilton. There is no charge for attending, but they will ask for a koha. The cost of accommodation at Houchen House is $45 incl breakfast. St Philomena’s Parish would fund this for whoever wishes to attend. For more information, please contact Susan Frykberg 757 3682

MULTI-CULTURAL LITURGY SERVICE: The next multi-cultural get-together is on Sunday 26th April, 11:30-12:30, in St Joseph's Church Hall, Devon St. It is a great opportunity to share prayers, stories, songs and food from our different cultures. We will also be doing some planning for the Multi-cultural liturgy on Friday 19 June at 7pm. Please bring some of your cultures' food to share. CARITAS LENT APPEAL: Thank you for all the gifts you have already made to the 2009 Caritas Lent Appeal. With our support, the poor communities we are in partnership with in many parts of the world will benefit from the Church’s work for justice, peace and development. Donation receipts will be issued in two runs in early May. One for donations received before 31 March and the second for donations made after.
