CUP OF TEA:  will be served after Mass next Sunday by the Dombroski Family Group.

ST PHILOMENA’S DISCUSSION GROUPS:  We have two Discussion Groups who meet in the school staff room;  one meets in the afternoon and one in the evening. 
Afternoon Group:  meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month  from 1.30-2.30pm.  The next meeting is Thurs 9th July.  Contact Ian McGill

Evening Group:  meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7.30pm-8.30pm.  The next meeting is Thurs 2nd July.  Contact Trevor Carter 752 2778.

ST PHILOMENA’S PRAYER GROUP:  This group meets on a Wednesday after 9am Mass.  We pray for the parish, our school and all the intentions in the petition box (which is in front of St Philomena’s statue).  There is still room for more petitions.

SCANNER FOR SALE:  The parish has a document scanner in new condition for sale $40 ono.  If interested seen Diane, Sister, Andy, Syd or any Team or Finance member.

FR KEVIN MEARS - GOLDEN JUBILEE:  Fr Kevin is celebrating his Golden Jubilee in July in Palmerston North.  There is a Mass on Sunday 12th at 10am and also on Wed 15th at 6pm.  If any parishioner is interested in attending either event please contact Trevor Carter or Syd Wells asap.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL:  Any good quality used clothing you have to spare would be most welcome at the St Vincent de Paul Opportunity Shop in the Fitzroy shopping arcade, New Plymouth. Our stocks are running low and if we are to continue to provide the services funded through the shop, your support is essential. The shop would be most grateful for any donations of summer or winter clothing. Any inquiries can be made to 75-86740.

SCHOOL NEWS:  The children and staff at St Pius are very busy at the moment preparing for our Production.  Ii is entitled “A Night In The Library”.  We invite you to come along to one of our shows and see the children’s talents on display.  Our performances are at St Philomena’s Church and we thank the parishioners for allowing us to use the Church.  Tickets go on sale this Wednesday and are available at the school office for a cost of $5 (preschoolers free)..  Performances are on Tues 30th June:  1pm and 7pm and Wed 1st July:  7pm.  We look forward to entertaining you.
At the beginning of July the Ministry of Education requires predictions of school enrolments for 2010 to enable them to allot staffing entitlements.  If you have a preschooler due to begin at St Pius X during the remainder of this year or in 2010 please contact the school office as soon as possible to ensure we have their details on our records.  We do have a small number of vacancies, so if you know anyone who is thinking about St Pius as a school for their children ask them to ring for an appointment to meet with me.

2009 LENT APPEAL:  Many thanks for your support for the 2009 Lent Appeal.  The total raised by St Philomena’s Parish was $887.  Your support enables Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand to continue to work with over 40 partners throughout the world in long term community development projects, education, awareness raising and emergency relief.

JOSEPHITE RETREAT CENTRE:  Coming up early July we have two events to warm the body and the soul in the school holidays.
Nurturing the Body:  Sat 4th July.  A practical day with Maree Hickey, full of self-care tips to keep your body healthy and relaxed.
Tending the Soul:  Mon 6th July.  A quiet guided day of prayer and reflection with Catherine Woodcock
