CUP OF TEA: will be served after Mass today by the Dombroski Family Group.

ST PHILOMENA’S DISCUSSION GROUPS: We have two Discussion Groups who meet in the school staff room; one meets in the afternoon and one in the evening.

Afternoon Group: meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 1.30-2.30pm. The next meeting is Thurs 9th July. Contact Ian McGill, 753 3513.

Evening Group: meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7.30pm-8.30pm. The next meeting is Thurs 16th July. Contact Trevor Carter 752 2778.

ST PHILOMENA’S PRAYER GROUP: This group meets on a Wednesday after 9am Mass. We pray for the parish, our school and all the intentions in the petition box (which is in front of St Philomena’s statue). There is still room for more petitions.

THE CURRENT ECONOMIC RECESSION: Catholic people have always been extraordinarily generous in supporting others in time of need and the present serious situation could provide an opportunity to go one step further. We should keep an eye on our neighbours for signs that they may need support - kitchen table contact is a good way of discovering the needs of other people. Has someone lost their job? Are there signs of unusual activity or lack of same? As a parish we are able to help. Our Care Group through Sister Mary, Trevor, Barry or Syd, phone no's on the back of this sheet, can help.

SCHOOL NEWS: At the beginning of July the Ministry of Education requires predictions of school enrolments for 2010 to enable them to allot staffing entitlements. If you have a preschooler due to begin at St Pius X during the remainder of this year or in 2010 please contact the school office as soon as possible to ensure we have their details on our records. We do have a small number of vacancies, so if you know anyone who is thinking about St Pius as a school for their children ask them to ring for an appointment to meet with me. Kind Regards, Trish Walsh, Principal
