At the instigation 12 years ago of Trevor Carter, Chairman of our Parish Leadership Team, St Philomena’s Parish hosts the yearly graduation of students from St Pius X Primary School at a special celebratory Mass.

These young people leave the close-knit and comforting environment of a school they have known for six years and approach an unknown for them, a period of adjustment to a learning experience, which will continue to fashion their futures.

To remind these young parishioners of the bond between St Pius X and St Philomena’s Parish, each student is presented with a silver chain symbolising the permanent link which is there for the rest of their lives. The students are encouraged, as of right, to appeal to the Parish in their futures, should the need arise. Syd Wells

ST PILOMENA’S STUDY GROUP

This group meets on the Tuesday following Mass at St Philomena’s to read and discuss the readings from that Mass, in the staffroom at St Pius X School. It is friendly and fun. Visitors are welcome and we have particularly enjoyed our contact with Catholics from other countries and appreciated the depth of their knowledge of Scripture. Feel free to join us at 1.30pm.
For further information please phone Syd Wells, 758 7319 (in Ian McGill’s absence)

CONGRATULATIONS to Father Earl Crotty on attaining his 50th jubilee in the priesthood.
